Out here, the thing that matters most about a gate is whether it keeps working without anybody having to come fix it.
Loxahatchee and The Acreage are rural in a way that most of Palm Beach County is not. Lots run an acre and a quarter and up. Plenty of properties have no municipal water or sewer. Roads out here include unpaved stretches that throw dust over everything. And the nearest power is frequently nowhere near where the gate needs to go.
People who live out here tend to be practical about this stuff. Nobody wants to pay for a feature they will never use, and nobody wants a system that needs a technician every few months. What they want is something specified correctly the first time, that runs for years without attention.
Interactive Gates & Security installs automatic gates, operators and access control throughout Loxahatchee, Loxahatchee Groves and The Acreage. Solar gates for long driveways, acreage and horse property entrances, and straightforward residential gates built to survive out here.

No power at the road, and what to do about it
This is the single most common issue on properties out here, and it has two real answers.
Trench and run a circuit. A dedicated line from the house or panel out to the gate. On a driveway of a few hundred feet this is real excavation, and on a longer one it can cost more than the gate itself. It gives you unlimited cycles and no weather dependency, and it is the right call on a high traffic entrance.
Solar with battery storage. Frequently the better answer here. No trenching, no excavation, and modern solar operators are genuinely reliable when they are specified correctly.
The word doing the work in that sentence is "correctly." A solar gate that dies on the fourth cloudy day in a row was undersized, and that is the most common complaint we hear about solar out here. It is not a problem with solar, it is a problem with sizing.
How we size a solar system:
We would rather oversize the battery than have you calling us in August.
- How many times a day does the gate actually cycle, counting every vehicle, delivery and visit
- Worst case, not average, because you care about the bad week not the good one
- Battery capacity for consecutive overcast days, not just for overnight
- Panel placement clear of tree canopy, which on wooded lots out here is a real constraint
- Room to add capacity later if the property's use changes
Dust, distance and durability
Unpaved roads and dust. On properties off dirt or shell roads, fine dust gets into everything. That affects operator enclosures, exposed hardware and anything with a moving part. Sealed enclosures and appropriate ingress protection are not an upgrade here, they are the difference between a gate that runs for years and one that grinds.
Distance from the house. If the gate is several hundred feet from where you live, you need to be able to see and control it without walking down. App control and a video intercom are not luxuries on a long driveway, they are how the gate is actually usable.
Trailer and equipment clearance. Horse trailers, equipment trailers, boats. The opening has to clear them and the approach needs turning room on both sides.
Horses and livestock. Where animals are present the operator should be quiet, move at a controlled speed, and sit where a startled animal is not in the swing path.
Ground conditions. The water table out here sits high and the soil varies. Footings poured into a wet hole do not cure to full strength, which is how posts shift a year later. Post depth and footing design have to account for the ground on your parcel.
Emergency response. Response times to rural Palm Beach County parcels are longer than in town. That is worth factoring into what you want the entry to do, and it is why we make sure every gate has a manual release you actually know how to operate.

Palm Beach County and rural zoning
Palm Beach County sits outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone that governs Miami-Dade and Broward. Requirements here are different, not looser, and a contractor who works mostly in Miami will bring wrong assumptions about product approval and permitting.
Electrical work for a gate operator typically requires a permit and inspection, and the gate structure may as well depending on height and scope. Much of this area carries rural residential or agricultural zoning, which can affect setbacks and what is permitted at the road. Loxahatchee Groves and unincorporated areas have their own considerations.
We confirm what applies to your specific parcel at the estimate rather than assuming.
Gate services in Loxahatchee and The Acreage
Solar powered gate systems. Complete packages for driveways with no power at the road, sized to your real cycle count with battery capacity for consecutive overcast days.
Acreage and ranch entrances. Wide openings for trailer traffic, durable hardware, built for working use rather than display.
Residential driveway gates. Sliding, swing, bi-folding and cantilever gates in aluminum, steel, wrought iron and mixed material, custom fabricated to your driveway.
Gate operators and automation. We are a LiftMaster Verified Dealer. Operators sized to the gate's actual weight and duty cycle, with controlled motion where livestock are present.
Access control. Keypads, fob and card readers, smartphone app control and cloud managed systems with individual revocable credentials.
Video intercom. See and speak to whoever is at the gate without walking down the driveway.
Safety systems. Photo eyes, loop detectors, edge sensors and the entrapment protection required under UL 325.
Fencing, paddock and pedestrian gates. Matching runs and hardware across the property.
Repair and service. We diagnose and repair gates and operators regardless of who installed them, including undersized solar systems and posts that have shifted. Correcting somebody else's underspecified solar install is routine work for us out here.

What is worth paying for, and what is not
We would rather tell you this up front than have you find out after.
Worth paying for out here:
Usually not worth it out here:
If somebody is quoting you marine grade hardware in The Acreage, ask them why.
- Correctly sized solar, with battery capacity for a bad week rather than an average one
- Sealed operator enclosure rated for dust and humidity
- Surge protection, because lightning is a genuine risk on open rural property
- Heavier hardware if trailers or equipment use the entrance
- Footings designed for the actual ground, which prevents the most expensive failure
- A manual release you have practiced using
- Full marine grade hardware. You are well inland, salt exposure is low, and this is a real cost with little return on these properties
- The heaviest commercial duty operator on a residential driveway that cycles a few times a day
- Elaborate ornamental work on a working entrance that will get scraped by a trailer
What does an automatic gate cost in Loxahatchee?
The biggest variables here are opening width and whether power exists at the gate location. Those two decide most of the number.
General ranges:
Automating an existing gate (operator, safety devices, access control): $6,500 to $9,500
New single swing or slide gate with automation: $12,000 to $20,000
Wide acreage or trailer clearance entrance: $14,000 to $24,000
Solar operator package for a long driveway with no power: Added to any of the above, quoted per site
Inland properties come in lower than coastal ones because they do not need marine grade hardware. We spec to your actual conditions rather than charging every customer for waterfront.
You get a written itemized price at the estimate, with the solar or trenching decision priced out both ways if it is a close call so you can choose with real numbers in front of you.

How it works
1. Free on site estimate. We measure the opening for the largest vehicle that will use it, walk the driveway, check for power, look at tree canopy over any potential solar location, check ground conditions at the post locations, and ask how many times a day the gate will really cycle. On acreage this takes more than an hour.
2. Design and price. Written proposal covering gate design, opening width, operator, power approach with solar and trenching priced out where relevant, footing approach, access control, safety devices, permitting and a firm price.
3. Permitting. We confirm zoning for your parcel and pull the permits.
4. Fabrication. Built to your entrance's measurements.
5. Installation. Posts and footings set for the actual ground, gate hang, operator, power or solar, access control, safety devices, full testing.
6. Walkthrough. App, keypad, manual release, battery backup, and for solar exactly what to expect through a stretch of cloudy days so there are no surprises in the wet season.

Common questions
There is no power at the end of my driveway. What are my options?
Trench and run a dedicated circuit, which on a long drive is real excavation cost, or install a solar powered operator with battery storage. Solar is often the better answer out here. We will price both where it is a close call so you can decide with real numbers.
Is solar actually reliable?
Yes, when it is sized correctly. Almost every complaint we hear about solar gates traces back to an undersized array or battery. We size for your worst week, not your average day, and we would rather oversize the battery than get a call in August.
What happens during a long stretch of cloudy days?
With a properly sized battery, the gate keeps running. We tell you at the walkthrough exactly how many days of reserve you have, so there is no guessing during the wet season.
Can you build a gate wide enough for a horse or equipment trailer?
Yes. The opening needs to clear the trailer and the approach needs turning room on both sides. We measure for the largest vehicle that will actually use the entrance.
My road is unpaved and everything gets covered in dust. Will that hurt the gate?
It will if the equipment is not specified for it. Sealed enclosures and appropriate ingress protection handle dust. A standard enclosure in that environment will eventually cause problems.
Will my gate posts shift?
Not if the footings are designed for the ground. The water table out here is high and concrete poured into a wet hole does not reach full strength, which is how posts move a year later. We check conditions at the estimate.
Do I need a permit?
Usually yes, particularly for electrical work and often for the gate structure depending on height and scope. Palm Beach County sits outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, so requirements differ from Miami-Dade and Broward. Rural and agricultural zoning can affect setbacks. We confirm what applies to your parcel.
Do I need marine grade hardware out here?
No. You are well inland and salt exposure is low. Marine hardware is a real cost with little benefit on these properties, and we are not going to spec it just to raise the price.
Do you service gates you did not install?
Yes, most brands of gate and operator. Fixing undersized solar systems installed by somebody else is routine work for us out here.
Get a real number, with the solar decision priced honestly
No phone quotes, no ballparks, no pressure. The opening width and the power situation decide most of the price out here, so we come out, measure properly, and hand you a written number with the options laid out.
