Automatic Gates & Fencing in Boca Raton, FL, Installation, Repair & Custom Gates

In Boca Raton, the hard part of a gate project is usually not the gate.

It is the approval. Boca has one of the highest concentrations of country club and gated communities anywhere in Florida, and most homes here sit under an architectural review process that will have opinions about height, material, color, style and setback before anything gets fabricated. On top of that, the city itself maintains design standards that shape what reads as appropriate here, a legacy of the Mediterranean Revival character the city has protected for decades.

A contractor who has not worked inside that process will design something attractive, submit it, get it rejected, and cost you a month.

Interactive Gates & Security installs automatic driveway gates, operators, access control and video intercom throughout Boca Raton and southern Palm Beach County. We design to the standards your community actually enforces, prepare the submittal, and build to what gets approved.

What South Florida does to a gate

Salt exposure, which varies by where you are. East of Federal Highway and along the Intracoastal you get real marine air. Out toward the country club communities west of I-95, far less. We spec hardware and coating to your actual exposure. Over-speccing an inland gate wastes your money and under-speccing a coastal one costs you the gate.

Humidity inside the enclosure. A gate operator is electronics in a metal box outdoors in year-round humidity. Condensation forms on the board and corrodes contacts. Sealed enclosures, correct gasketing and proper mounting orientation are the difference between a control board that lasts a decade and one that dies in two years.

Lightning. Florida leads the nation in lightning strikes. A gate system includes a long low voltage run across open ground, which behaves like an antenna. Surge protection on both the line side and the low voltage side is standard on our installs and commonly skipped by others.

Sun on the finish. This matters more here than most places, because in a community with architectural standards a chalked, faded gate is not just ugly, it can put you out of compliance. Coating systems rated for this sun hold their color. Standard powder coat does not.

Storm season and power loss. After a named storm, power can be out for days. Battery backup keeps the gate operating and a proper manual release means you and emergency services can still get through. We set this up on every install.

Getting a gate approved in Boca Raton

Two approval layers usually apply here, and they are separate.

Your community's architectural review. Most gated and country club communities in Boca operate an architectural review committee with written design standards. These typically govern gate height, permitted materials, color, panel style, whether the design may be solid or must be open picket, column treatment, and setback from the road. Some communities specify approved finishes down to the color code.

We prepare board submittals as part of the job, working from your community's existing standards document rather than guessing. If your community has a preferred or previously approved gate style, that is the fastest route to a yes and we will tell you so.

City and county permitting. Palm Beach County sits outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone that governs Miami-Dade and Broward, so the code path here is different from Miami. That does not make it lenient, it makes it different, and a contractor who works mostly in Miami-Dade will bring the wrong assumptions. Electrical work for the operator typically requires a permit and inspection, and the gate structure may as well depending on height and scope. We handle it.

A note on design. Boca's character leans Mediterranean, and in many communities a gate that reads modern or industrial will struggle in review even where the written standards do not explicitly forbid it. We design with that in mind and will tell you honestly if what you are describing is likely to have a hard time.

Gate services in Boca Raton

New automatic gate installation. Sliding, swing, bi-folding and cantilever gates in aluminum, steel, wrought iron and mixed material. Custom fabricated to your driveway, your grade and your home's architecture.

Ornamental and estate entries. Wrought iron and aluminum ornamental work, matching driveway columns, stone and masonry piers, and designs developed to pass architectural review rather than fight it.

Gate operators and automation. We are a LiftMaster Verified Dealer. Operators are sized to the gate's actual weight and duty cycle. An underpowered operator on a heavy ornamental gate is the single most common cause of early failure we see.

Access control. Keypads, fob and card readers, smartphone app control, telephone entry and cloud managed systems for communities and multi unit properties.

Video intercom. See and speak to whoever is at your gate from anywhere, on your phone.

Safety systems. Photo eyes, loop detectors, edge sensors and the entrapment protection required under UL 325. A powered gate is a heavy moving object and these devices are what stand between it and a vehicle, a pet or a child.

Repair and service. We diagnose and repair gates and operators regardless of who installed them.

Fencing, railing and metalwork. Matching fence runs, pedestrian gates, driveway columns, railings and custom fabrication so the entry reads as one design instead of assembled parts.

If you are only here part of the year

A large share of Boca property sits empty for months at a time, and a gate on an unoccupied home has a different job than one on an occupied house.

Remote access from anywhere. Open the gate from your phone in New York or Toronto. Let in a landscaper, a pool service or a contractor without giving out a code that never expires.

Time limited and scheduled credentials. Your lawn service gets access Tuesday morning and no other time. Codes that expire on a date you set.

Access logs. See who opened the gate and when, which is genuinely useful when managing a property remotely.

Property manager credentials. If a management company handles the home while you are away, they get their own credential, separately revocable.

Storm readiness. Battery backup means the gate still opens if a storm takes the power out while you are gone and someone needs to check the property.

HOA, country club and commercial gate systems

Boca Raton is dense with associations and clubs, and a community entry carries requirements a single driveway does not.

Emergency access is the critical one. Fire and EMS must get through without waiting, which means a Knox box, Opticom, siren activation or an equivalent override, coordinated with the local fire department. Boards carry real liability when this is wrong or has not been maintained.

We work with property managers, associations, club boards and general contractors on:

If your board is planning a gate replacement or building a reserve line item, we will walk the property and give you real replacement costs and an honest read on remaining life. No charge.

• Community entry and exit gate systems
• Resident, guest and staff access control
• Guardhouse integration and visitor management
• Commercial yard gates, cantilever slide gates and barrier arms
• Office park and multi tenant access systems
• Reserve study input on gate and operator replacement cycles
• Service agreements on existing community gates

What does an automatic gate cost in Boca Raton?

It depends on the driveway more than anything else, and here it also depends on what your community's standards require. An association that mandates ornamental iron and masonry columns produces a different number than one that permits a simple aluminum picket gate.

General ranges for the Boca Raton area:

Automating an existing gate (operator, safety devices, access control): $6,500 to $9,500

New single swing or slide gate with automation: $12,000 to $20,000

Large custom, double swing, or heavy ornamental with full access control: $20,000 and up

Estate entries, community entrances and commercial: Quoted per site

How it works

1. Free on site estimate. We measure, check grade and the power situation, and ask for your community's architectural standards if there are any. About an hour.

2. Design and price. Written proposal covering gate design, operator, access control, safety devices, permitting and a firm price, designed against your community's standards from the start.

3. Approvals and permitting. We prepare the architectural review submittal and pull the permits.

4. Fabrication. Built to your driveway's measurements, after approval, not before.

5. Installation. Posts and footings, gate hang, operator, electrical, access control, safety devices, full testing.

6. Walkthrough. App, keypad, manual release, battery backup. You should be able to open your own gate in an outage before we leave.

Common questions

Will my HOA approve an automatic gate?

Usually yes, provided the design matches the community's standards. The failure mode is designing first and submitting second. We ask for your community's architectural guidelines at the estimate and design to them, which is the fastest path to approval.

How long does the approval process take?

It varies by community. Some review committees meet monthly, which can add several weeks before fabrication starts. We build that into the schedule and tell you realistic dates up front rather than promising a timeline that ignores the board.

Do I need a permit for an automatic gate in Boca Raton?

Usually yes, particularly for the electrical work and often for the gate structure depending on height and scope. Palm Beach County sits outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, so requirements differ from Miami-Dade and Broward. We handle permitting as part of the job.

Will my gate work if the power goes out?

Yes. Battery backup is standard on our installs and every gate has a manual release. We make sure you know how to use it before we leave.

Can I open the gate from my phone while I am out of state?

Yes. That is standard on modern operators and it is the feature seasonal owners here ask for most. You can also issue a landscaper or property manager their own credential and revoke it at any time.

How long should a gate last here?

With hardware and coating specified for your actual exposure, decades. Operators are the wear item and a properly sized, properly protected one typically runs eight to twelve years.

Do you service gates you did not install?

Yes, most brands of gate and operator.

Do you work with HOAs, country clubs and property managers?

Regularly. Community entries, guardhouse integration, access control, emergency vehicle access, service agreements and replacement cost figures for reserve studies.
